UV-Fashions is een initiatief van Jan Willem van der Sterre. Enkele jaren geleden overleed zijn vader aan de gevolgen van huidkanker. Kort daarna beviel zijn zusje van haar eerste kindje. Met de wetenschap dat ze haar kindje goed moest beschermen tegen de zon, ging zijn zusje samen met haar man op zoek naar de beste bescherming en kwam zo terecht bij de pakjes van het Australische Stingray. Toen bleek dat de UV-kleding nergens in Nederland verkrijgbaar was, nam Jan Willem contact op met de fabrikant in Australië om te zien of er mogelijkheden waren om dit merk ook in Europa aan te bieden. Vanaf dat moment besloot Jan Willem zich in te zetten voor het verspreiden van bewustwording en bescherming op UV-gebied en dat doet hij inmiddels samen met het UV-Fashions team in heel Europa.
