Lyrebird, either of two species of Australian birds (family Menuridae, order Passeriformes) named for the shape of their tail when spread in courtship display. Inhabiting forests of southeastern Australia, lyrebirds are ground dwellers, and their brown bodies rather resemble those of chickens.
