With Daiwa’s exclusive Magsealed technology, Saltist® spinning reels resist saltwater intrusion for extended life in the marine environment.

What does Magsealed mean?

Fishing reels consist of highly sensitive rotary mechanisms, which in the absence of periodic maintenance, can freeze up due to rust and salt crystallization that occurs when saltwater intrudes. When this happens, an overhaul might save the day—or you may have to say “thanks for the memories” and repurpose that reel as a paper weight. So to keep saltwater out, Daiwa Magseals the main shaft on all new Saltist Spinning reels. They do this with Magoil, which is a futuristic magnetic oil developed by space engineers. Daiwa uses Magoil to seal microgaps between parts to keep saltwater and other particles out—which was frankly impossible until now. Along with their Magsealed design, Saltist reels boast a range of performance features (listed below) that Saltist connoisseurs have come to expect.

Saltist Spinning Reel Key Features

  • Magsealed main shaft keeps saltwater and particles out
  • Magsealed line roller (Saltist 5000 and 8000 models) reduces line friction
  • HardBodyZ body and side cover withstand impacts
  • Air Rotor maximizes rotor strength and reduces weight for easier cranking
  • Tubular stainless steel Air Bail® further reduces weight
  • Digigear™ digital gear design for smooth retrieves
  • ABS spool with maximized core diameter and reversed taper for 100% usable line
  • Anodized exterior surfaces for excellent corrosion resistance
  • Corrosion Resistant Ball Bearings (CRBB) are specially treated to last up to 12 times longer than conventional stainless steel bearings
  • Waterproof Ultimate Tournament Drag (UTD)
