A Midge Tip is deadly when fishing long leaders on windy days as the tip section bites through the surface chopping keeping you in contact with your flies.  It is an excellent shallow water nymphing line or when fish are chasing small baitfish in the shallows.  If a fish rolls, you can efficiently pick up your line and cover the rise. You can also use a Midge Tip to fish dry flies.  Leave the flies sitting on the surface.  As soon as the Midge Tip drags the dries under begin a slow hand twist retrieve to keep the flies just below the surface where fish are cruising
